Resilience is a theme and concept that intrigues me, particularly as I go into the last quarter of my life.
I explore the concepts of aging and resilience through weaving, mixed media, ceramics, and creative writing; the idea of combining these elements has been pivotal in my career. The fibers and materials I use in my work are soft and feminine, strong, and resilient like I am. They are finite, biodegradable, and impermanent like my aging body. In my work I bridge these ideas and approaches with curiosity as I generate new art connected to autobiography told through interdisciplinary art forms. This ongoing project is titled Artobiography: A Weaver’s Journal. Artobiography is being created in the form of a multimedia, diaristic-style memoir, and is a collection of my personal experiences that traces the rise of resilience in my life.
